NorthShore Kitchens Plus Supports
AHA Youth Education and Nutrition Program
June 2008 - NorthShore Kitchens Plus, Inc.,
of Marblehead recently made a donation to the American Heart
Association, specifically earmarked toward the Youth
Education, Nutrition and Exercise Program.
“When researching the organization,
the youth program was of great interest to me,” said
Dempsey, “if you can educate a child in their formative
years on nutrition, exercise and food group choices, you
just might make a difference for their entire lives”.
AHA provides educational materials about
nutrition and physical activity to about one-third of our
nation’s elementary schools. “Obesity and diabetes in on the
rise in children, this type of program has proven effective
and fun for young children. This donation will go directly
toward teaching more than 1,200 children how to take control
of their health,” said Abdella, Business Development
Director for the American Heart Association.

Marblehead Council on Aging Tai
Chi Summer Program Sponsored By NorthShore Kitchens Plus.
Marblehead
Council on Aging Executive Director Pat Roberts, recently
accepted a donation in support of the Tai Chi Program from
Ken Dempsey of NorthShore Kitchens Plus. “When we met with
Ken, we shared some the benefits and the effectiveness of
the Tai Chi program, he graciously made a commitment
to sponsor the program through out the summer months and
perhaps beyond,” said Roberts. “When we review our
local commitments and contributions we like to help programs
already in existence, and found the Tai Chi program is an
asset to the community. Pat does a wonderful job with the
many programs and a sometimes limited budget”, said Dempsey.
“The 12 week curriculum introduces the
fundamental principles of Tai Chi, including proper
structural alignment, relaxed and mindful movement,
coordinated with breathing and imagery. Tai Chi
walking is also introduced. These movements are simple, yet
powerful and proven to strengthen and increase awareness of
mind and body, enhance and benefit natural flow, improve
health, personal development, and self-defense. Recent
medical research has shown Tia Chi can improve many aspects
of health including; balance, musculoskeletal strength and
flexibility, cardio-respiratory function, immune function
and emotional well being,” said instructor Regina Gibbons.
Gibbons is a Licensed Acupuncturist, and has practiced Tai
Chi and Qi Gong for more than 10 years. For more

Designer returns from
Chicago Show with latest designs, materials and technology.
Our staff designer Ronna Duffy has just returned
from the National Kitchen and Bath Show "KBIS" where all the
newest products are annually introduced.
Ronna is quoted in the current issue (April,
2008) of Kitchen and Bath Business Magazine on page 44, "Nature's
Best...Need warmth?
Try a wood countertop for a change..."
"Wood countertops create an attractive contrast and add warmth
to the kitchen, which isn't always possible with stone," said
designer Ronna Duffy, of North Shore Kitchens Plus, Inc. in
Marblehead, MA. "They give the kitchen a furniture look
by adding character, detail and variety, and there’s a wider
range of species available today and eco-friendly materials
such as bamboo gaining ground...it’s also durable.
Bamboo has a very unusual look and unique texture," said Duffy.
